The thing that made me happy today was sitting at a table with 10 people all afternoon where NONE of them even looked at their phones once!  There was not an iPhone or a Blackberry to be seen!  And amongst this group was a doctor, a dentist and a lawyer - all of whom have their own successful practices.  I think we ALL forget sometimes that we can "disconnect" for a little while we are with other people.

The thing that made me happy today was the interaction I had with a nice old man in the elevator.  He was already on the elevator when it stopped at my floor and he started to get off of the elevator thinking that he had reached the lobby.  When he realized he had not gotten to the lobby yet, he just started to laugh and stepped back into the elevator - I couldn't help but smile with him.  Upon reaching the lobby, he graciously allowed me to step out first and extended his arm out as if to say "after you!"  I extended him the same courtesy as I opened the door to the building and let him go out first.  When we got outside, we both wished each other a pleasant evening!

The thing that made me happy today was realizing that my daughter has TWO weekends between camp ending and school starting!  This might help us to do more college visiting!

The thing that made me happy today was driving home from work with some classic rock BLASTING on the radio!  It was two-fer Tuesday and the last 4 songs I heard before I got to my house were 2 great songs from Foreigner and another 2 great songs from Bon Jovi including my very favorite one, "Living On a Prayer".

The thing that made me happy today was completing the very long "to do" list I had made for myself today!  And I even had to deal (successfully, I might add!) with a few problems that came up that were NOT on my list!  All in all, a very productive day!

The thing that made me happy today was the kindness and smile of a stranger.  I was ordering breakfast at the deli this morning and I had asked for a packet of Motrin and said "it's going to be one of those days".  The young doorman from the hotel across the street was behind me and asked if I was off on the weekend.  I told him I was and he smiled at me and said "well, it's only 1 more day - you're almost there!"   The way that he said it just made it all seem ok.  (He could have easily had an attitude since I am sure that HE is working on the weekend)  As I left I turned to him and said "have a great day!"  and he said "you too!" with that awesome smile.

The thing that made me happy today was spending a few really fun hours with some friends.  When we first entered the bar, we were the youngest people in there - as the hours passed, we suddenly became the oldest!  Of course it was also nice that we were only charged for 5 drinks (there were 4 of us!) when we clearly had way more than that!

The thing that made me happy today was going into the bathroom and finding that someone else changed the toilet paper!  We have 2 bathrooms in my house and no matter which one I go into, I find myself looking at an almost empty roll that needs to be changed every time I go in there!

The thing that made me happy today was seeing all of the people who are working on 2 of my neighbors' houses leave early. 

The multitude of trucks that have been on my block for weeks are making driving very dangerous as they are parking on a blind curve.  And now I am hopeful that the rest of the weekend will be quiet and safe.
